History Class Just Got Cooler Thanks to MEDL Mobile’s New Britannica Kids App

Fountain Valley,CA (January, 2012) – MEDL Mobile Holdings, Inc. an incubator and aggregator of mobile technology, announced today the launch of “Britannica Kids: U.S. Presidents,” its first mobile application developed for Encyclopaedia Britannica. This partnership was brokered by JRL Group, Inc., Encyclopaedia Britannica’s brand licensing agency. The app, which is available for iPhones and iPads with iOS4 or greater, teaches young learners an important aspect of U.S. history by taking them on a fun and educational meet and greet with the 44 U.S. presidents. Now available on the Apple App Store, it is the first of two apps MEDL Mobile is developing for the Britannica suite of apps. The second will cover U.S. geography.

“Britannica Kids: U.S. Presidents” presents a wealth of interesting presidential facts and fun features. The material, compiled and thoroughly fact checked by the editors at Encyclopaedia Britannica, engages students in solidifying their knowledge through quizzes and voiced over text. App features include:

  • Profiles for all 44 U.S. presidents, including current President Barack Obama
  • Presidential portrait, first lady, birthday, and fun facts in each profile
  • “Hail to the Chief” sing-along with music and lyrics
  • Quiz section where students can test their knowledge of the U.S. presidents
  • A captivating “Did You Know” picture mosaic that offers facts and photos on a variety of presidential topics such as:
    • the Oval Office
    • Mount Rushmore
    • the Secret Service
    • Camp David
    • the White House bowling alley

“’Britannica Kids: U.S. Presidents’ brings the Oval Office to kids’ living rooms via their iPads and iPhones – suddenly, homework has never been more cool,” said Dave Swartz, MEDL Mobile co-founder and chief creative officer. “The app provides a highly engaging experience that we’re confident will be fun for kids and thereby increase their retention level and knowledge base.”

“Making education enjoyable and fun is an important way to not only help kids learn but to want to learn,” said Andrew Maltin, MEDL Mobile co-founder and chief executive officer. “It’s more possible than ever before thanks to mobile technology and the vision of forward-thinking leaders like Encyclopaedia Britannica who are using it.”

About MEDL Mobile
MEDL Mobile Inc., an early leader in the emerging mobile applications software market, is engaged in the monetization of mobile apps through four primary revenue generating platforms: (i) development of customized apps for third parties to monetize their particular intellectual property, persona or brand, (ii) incubation of apps in partnership with third parties and from a library of more than 75,000 original apps concept submissions, (iii) sale of advertising and sponsorship opportunities directly to brands via mobile advertising networks and (iv) acquisition of apps from other developers and use of a proprietary application programming interface, or API, to make Apps recommendations for our user base. MEDL has developed and is developing more than 50 unique mobile apps for customers such as Monster.com, Emirates Airline, Medtronic and Telefonica.

MEDL Mobile’s patent-pending recommendation engine technology provides mobile users with statistically significant and intelligent app recommendations.  Recommendations are based on the user’s “mobile lifestyle:” their mobile habits and interests based on hundreds of data points about that individual user. This powerful recommendation engine facilitates discovery of applications that users did not even know they would have an interest in, and prevents them from having to search for such apps, stimulating interest and engagement in new mobile apps.
